Things to do during your stay.

Golf: Nearest course is at La Selle la Forge which is 15km away or Bagnoles De L'Orne 20k, and 18 holes at Clecy in Swiss Normandy 35km.

Tennis: 1k a free court in St Bomer Les Forges and more sophisticated facilities at Domfront and Flers.

Cycling: Although the whole area is ideal for cycling, one of the cycle routes designed by the Orne Tourist board, comes right past our front door. A booklet showing these routes can be obtained from Domfront tourist office or borrowed from me. There is a centre for off road cycling or VTT as it is known in France at Torchamp 12k

For those wishing to cycle to their next Chambre d'hotes, transportation of baggage can be arranged to make your trip less strenuous.

Vois vert: these are usually disused railway lines which are now used by cyclists and walkers. They are particularly suitable if you are cycling with children as there is no other traffic. They also have the advantage of offering an almost flat route. The main one runs from Flers to Domfront and then onto Mont St Michel, a distance of 85k. For maps and further information in French see the link:/www.af3v.org/FicheVoie.php?voie=185

Horse Riding :  Near La Fosse Arthour 13km.

Walking: the whole area is suitable for walking whether on quiet country roads between villages, or off road in the nearby Foret de Halouze or Foret des Andaines. St Bomer Les Forges has its own set of 6 walks designed to show you the loveliest parts of the immediate area. The GR22 or National walking route is only a kilometre away from the house  and runs all the way to the Mont St Michael.

A special Voies Vertes or Green Way, a disused old railway line runs through Domfront and within 2k of the house. This now functions as a walking cycling and riding route from Domfront to  Mont -Saint -Michel, a distance of 60k. The photo shows an annual run between St Hilaire-du-Harcouet and Mortain.

Beaches: 1 hour plus. Why not combine visiting some of the D Day landing sites with a picnic on the beach. All the famous beaches like Omaha and Utah and the Mulberry harbour at Arromanches are ideal swimming beaches.

Canoeing: the nearest canoe and pedalo hire is at la Ferriere aux Etangs 14k or Torchamp 12k, but for more serious enthusiasts there is white water and a Canoe School at Pont D'Ouilly in Swiss Normandy.

Climbing: at La Fosse Arthour 12k and at many sites in Swiss Normandy .

Fishing: There are lots of places to fish from small ponds to famous rivers. Although river fishing requires a rod license, a days pass for local ponds with Trout can cost as little as 5 euros.
